REQUIREMENTS FOR IRRADIATION OF MANGOES at KRUSHAK

  • Fruits harvested from only APEDA approved orchards and  packed in APEDA approved pack houses can be taken (contact APEDA, 022-27840350)

  • SOP for pack house to be followed requiring the proper label and information

  • Schedule of irradiation treatment to be intimated by APEDA to facility in advance (contact KRUSHAK, 022-25595374 (Mumbai), 02550-266276/02550-267398 (Lasalgaon)

  • Plant Protection Quarantine And Storage (PPQS) inspectors & APHIS Inspectors to be brought to the facility. Registration with ppqs mandatory (contact Regional PPQS office, Mumbai, 022-23757459/022-23748541)

  • No consignment will be accepted after 09.30 AM 

  • First consignment to be taken up for radiation processing should reach before 7.30 AM

  • Minimum order quantity will be 400 boxes (excluding boxes required for inspection.

  • Arrangement  for removal of left overs to be made by the exporter

  • Damaged/rejected cartons should be taken back by separate vehicle

  • No repacking allowed in the facility

  • All documents required should accompany consignments including

  • application for irradiation & packaging information sheet

  • other documents required by PPQS

  • (Obtaining documents by fax after arrival of consignment at the facility will not be allowed)

REQUIREMENTS FOR MANGO CARTON

  • It is mandatory to pack mangoes in cartons with following specifications - Dimensions: 370 x 270 x 90 mm

  • Insect proof, taped from all sides that are open with food grade tape

  • Gross weight along with fruits should not exceed 3.5 Kg,

  • Should have proper label

 

STEPS INVOLVED IN RADIATION PROCESSING OF MANGOES 

  • Unloading after checking the documents

  • Sample testing by USDA-APHIS & PPQS inspectors

  • Loading of 8 product boxes with dummy material on to conveyor

  • Loading of 30 mango cartons in each product box

  • Loading of product boxes on to conveyor

  • Loading of 8 product boxes with dummy material on to conveyor after last product box with mangoes

  • Unloading of the treated cartons from the product box

  • Loading on to the truck

  • Sealing of the truck by USDA-APHIS Inspectors

  • Collect all relevant documents

  • Payment by DD/cheque in favour of accounts officer, BRIT

  • Present throughput 8 tons in one shift (one shift /day being followed)

 

ORDER REGISTRATION PROCEDURE FOR AVAILING KRUSHAK IRRADIATOR FOR MANGO IRRADIATION 

  • All Orders will be accepted on FIRST COME FIRST SERVED basis.

  • Processing charge is Rs.20/- per standard mango box.  In addition, Rs.2/- per box will be labour charges payable to M/s. Desai Fruits & Vegetables Pvt. Ltd.

  • Orders can be placed minimum 10 days in advance with 50% processing fee in the form of DD in favour of Accounts Officer, BRIT payable at Mumbai.

  • Remaining 50% of fee will be payable along with the receipt of consignment for processing.

  • No refund will be made for cancellation of orders.

  • Minimum order quantity will be 400 boxes (excluding boxes required for inspection).  Normally there will be 5 slots of 400 boxes per working day – (Monday to Friday).

  • No consignment will be accepted after 09.30 a.m.

  • First consignment to be taken up for radiation processing should reach before 07.30 a.m.

  • Status of booking will be displayed at KRUSHAK Irradiator Site.

  • Because of any reason Plant is not available on a particular day or part of the day, processing fee collected will be paid back.  But the operator/s will not be liable to pay any damages on account of any loss which may occur to the party otherwise.

  • The customers are advised to give complete contact details to enable any information such as non-availability of the Plant or change of schedule to be intimated to them.

  • The eligible customer to avail mango irradiation services can be registered/approved pack houses (list available on APEDA Website www.apeda.com)

  • Customers can contact for availability of free capacity available.
